Satellite TV Offers More Than Cable

Tagged Under : , , , , , ,

I’ve been itching to get away from Comcast basic cable for a long time. The problem is they give you a great combo with their packages that include voice, hi speed internet, and cable television service. When you need to remove one, you miss out on the discounts of the package.

But the cable television service just has to go, as the service and quality is well below average. There is so much talk today about HD, there isn’t much choice with Charter cable television. So I began researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the people who have a few options. Unlike a few people who can only pick from either the cable company or dish television, I have a third choice in my area. The phone company in this neighborhood has been upgrading the telephone network. So now I have an additional consideration with AT&T and their U-Verse service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same issues. It could place someone in the same situation as with the cable TV company, as the telephone guys want customers to package their TV setup with internet and voice service. If the service works out well, I’ll be happy. Then again if the service is poor you’re in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.

The reviews I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom TV service. Because it is new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some customers share their poor reviews. Some of those reviews are the quite amusing, because customers make the decision to write a dissertation on their poor experience and share it on the world wide web. They badmouth the company like it is some giant conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, like the corporation does not want our money!

Another way to go that I’m looking into is of course satellite television. Because we have five television watchers in our home, we have subscribed in the past to a high end cable television package. The satellite TV choices are fairly comparable, as the DirecTV Premier package and the Dish Network Everything package are each about $115 per month. Sure that’s pretty high for pay TV, but when you make the comparison with treating your family to dinner and a trip to the movies, it really isn’t all that much.

High Definition Satellite TV

Tagged Under : ,

With the introduction of high definition satellite TV, the world of television changed for good; launched back in the 90s, HDTV surprised its viewers by the real life quality of sound and video, which was an amazing accomplishment from all points of view. How does high definition satellite TV work? Well, By HD we imply a form of broadcasting mode that has a higher quality level than digital and analog formats and that substantially increases the quality of the picture. To get to the point, every image consists of scan lines: these are the measuring units, and in the case of analog television their number is around 525 whereas for high definition satellite TV there are 1,080 lines for every video representation.

The advantages of high definition satellite TV touch upon quality; the images are crystal-clear with 100% natural color rendition. Moreover, the regular HD programming is a match for a very large screen format that seems to integrate the viewer in the picture itself. Then, three-dimensional or surround sound makes one other noteworthy achievement in terms of television experience. Most TV sets available on the market at present incorporate high definition satellite TV characteristics so as to match modern broadcasting technology. Even under the circumstances, you should be aware that not all programs are broadcast in HD format, since the procedure is pretty expensive to implement for some providers.

In the United States, high definition satellite TV services are provided by two major companies, DirectTV and DISH Network, and each approaches customers differently offering more than television packages. Thus, DirectTV brings high definition satellite TV access as supplementary element to a standard contract, and the extra fee would be of $9.99 with eight HD channels included. DISH Network on the other hand combines high definition satellite TV with normal digital programs in one unique package. Thus, the lowest DISH combination costs $29.99 and it covers 75 normal digital channels and 25 HD ones.

The only item of equipment that is necessary for the reception of high definition satellite TV signal is the HD receiver that is usually offered by the service provider when you install the system. The offer is valid for up to four receivers that can be installed wherever you want in the house. Such free services are valued immensely by the consumer, and they are generally used by the companies to attract more users. For the recording of programs, a common unit consisting of the HD receiver and a digital video recorder becomes necessary; these devices are commonly known as HD DVRs and they have a storage capacity of up to 200 hours of programs.
